Exclusive live material and a promise for more! 👍

We dug up Ville Lipiäinen's archives and came across with some never seen live footage from the past tours. Something to reminisce while waiting for the Human. :II: Nature. tour to finally start. More to come soon! -- Tuomas Holopainen

Yours Is An Empty Hope filmed in Mexico in 2015, we already had The Poet And The Pendulum filmed at the same venue on the Vehicle Of Spirit DVD but this song hadn't been published before to my knowledge.

YLE (Finland's national public broadcaster) aired a 1-hour cut of the concert in 2016. This is probably from that set.

The video appears to be available to locals only but there are perhaps ways around it.

EDIT: Ok, I can edit this post, but not the previous one.

It would appear that post editing is available only for 5 minutes after a post is made. I will look into this tonight and reset the setting for everyone.

I was at two shows on this tour: Toronto in April 2015, and London Ontario in February 2016. I had a lot of fun at these shows, even if I didn't stay until the end of those two shows. I bought tour shirts for each of the North American legs, and even bought a copy of the score for the Imaginaerum movie. Delain and Sabaton were the openers for the Toronto show, and for the London Ontario show it was Delain and Sonata Arctica.

The London Ontario show is the one that stands out for me the most, as it is the day where I finally got to meet the band through a meet and greet, which I paid $200 for, and desperately purchased as it was my dream to meet them. I had drawn a picture for the band to give to them, and they really liked it. They all signed my copy of "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" and I let them keep the picture that I gave to them.

Sounds like an amazing experience, especially meeting them all! 🤩 This is something I haven't done yet, and I wonder how many years before meet-and-greets are even possible again. 😐 On top of that, you saw some solid support bands too.

It's sad to think that with each album since Dark Passion Play they toured quite a few cities in Canada, and now they're only playing 4 gigs in the USA, and perhaps 2 in Mexico. Still crossing fingers for more dates to be added though.

I was listening to this pro shot from (of all places) Columbus Ohio, unfortunately only 5 songs but the quality is on par with the Vehicle of Spirit DVD recordings. I don't know who was shooting and why, and I couldn't find the rest of the show but it's another quality video from the EMFB tour. 🔥

Found a snippet with Sami Vanska talking about his guest appearance during the band's 20th anniversary show in Himos when he performed "Stargazers" in the We Were Here book (English version) on pages 340 - 341:

Quote

Sami: Tuomas asked me in early April whether I would be able to play Himos. I had actually anticipated that something like that might be in the cards, but I asked him for some time to think about it, because, for personal reasons, I had my reservations. The other thing was that I hadn't played Nightwish songs in years. After thinking about it for awhile, I was like, well, why not?

I rehearsed "Stargazers" on my own, and we only played it once with the band in the soundcheck, just before the Himos show. Well, no worries, it sounded tolerable.

I got backstage only about 20 minutes before the show. The rest of the guys were already there, and there was a bit of tension in the air. Jukka kept on hammering the drum pad, Emppu was busy with his own stuff, and Tuomas was completely quiet. Then I bumped into Marco. He stared at my Tarot shirt, wondering if it was a message of some sort. I had picked the shirt tongue-in-cheek but still as a tribute to a band that I respect. Then Kaitsu came in and started telling bad jokes, to which I replied with even worse ones. The ice began to break. I never met Floor before, but the nervous atmosphere before a show is not the best time for introductions.

When the concert began, I stayed behind and waited for my turn. Usually the first songs are the ones when the band gets the engine running, while the rest of the show is more relaxed. Well, this time me and Jukka would only do the "first song", so we couldn't really let loose.

I was watching the beginning of the show with Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica. I don't really know the new Nightwish songs, but at some point I woke up and thought the song sounded like "Nemo". I asked Tony, and he said it was. It was already past the halfway point, and I knew "Stargazers" would be next. I almost panicked, wondering whether I'd still have time to go to the bathroom. I ran backstage, and soon Toni Peiju came banging on the door. "Hurry up, you have 30 seconds to get up on stage", he said. Well, I made it.

"Stargazers" flew by in a flurry on stage. I really have no recollection of it. I think it went tolerably, at least considering I wasn't rehearsing on my sofa anymore but playing to 10,000 fans instead.

All in all, Himos was fun. I didn't even break a sweat, performing just that one song.

Sami sounds unfazed by this experience, pretty much how he acted on stage while he was in the band. I guess he was the introvert type, though according to the band biography he was known to party hard too.

Now is Marko ever going to do a guest appearance, dressed in a Wintersun shirt? 😬
