New update from the band, the European tour has been postponed to November 2021. Next shows coming up now are the summer fests. I will update the main list shortly with the new dates.

My tickets are still valid 😁

Every time this happens, I'm afraid they would cancel dates like they did in Toronto (and Oslo?). But they have been adding venues too. I'm not very confident about being able to see them in the US in October, at the rate things are going.

From Floor's social media:

I had a case of Murphy’s Law hitting me....😢
even though the picture might suggest it’s all peachy. That’s to keep a positive spirit, sun on my face, life is good! 🤗 But challenging at times....
I was in the hospital last week. In Finland, where I went to rehearse with my dear brothers in Nightwish for our virtual shows next month. So incredibly great to see them after all that time (over a year!)
After the first rehearsal day I woke up to severe stomach pains and decided this was not normal. Once at the hospital I got what you call a gallstone attack. Turned out I had pains because of a huge amount of gallstones, and pancreatitis. I needed my gallbladder removed but because of the pancreatitis they couldn’t do it at once. The day after they took a scarred gallbladder out, with 15 stones in it! Emppu calls me stone henge from now on 🪨😂🪨
It turned my trip into something quite different. But I am most grateful for the amazing care I received at the hospital in Joensuu! And for all the love and support from my band and friends and family! And grateful for my own body. For taking this so well, I made a promise to take extra good care of it! 👊🏻
I’ll need to recover for a few more weeks but look forward to the virtual shows! And for spring, that is right at our doorstep 🌷☀️ 🙏🏻

Wishing her a quick recovery, definitely such rotten luck to fall ill the moment you finally get to travel and rejoin your band mates!

Wow, you Finns are in for a great tour start this summer! Glad to see the cover band back in action! Unfortunate though that Marek "Markko-Tarot" Russlanov is still stuck in Ulan Bator. 🤔

Meanwhile the South American tour is postponed again. No updates so far about the Russian and North American dates.

We know people are upset with the last minute announcement of the Nevski & The Prospects show in Oulu with the last notice. This was the only date it was possible to do and was offered to us. It hasn’t been easy with all the cancellations and schedules. The fact is that we can’t play ”when we want”. I know a lot of people are disappointed and we have been trying our best but sometimes it’s not enough. Peace and Love! ❤️

And now the North-American dates have been moved to Spring 2022. 😪 It's probably better to play it safe.

I'm surprised at the time span between the NY and LA shows though (12 days). Are they planning to add more American dates in between, or perhaps move the Mexican dates?

It seems that Kai said too much and the promoters aren't happy about it!

Nightwish mysteriously moved on to its gig - a confusing misunderstanding behind conflicting explanations

The Nightwish concert was postponed for one day, causing surprise on social media.

Nightwish, one of the world's most popular Finnish bands, announced in May that it would hold a concert in Kaisaniemi, Helsinki, on Sunday 15 August.

On Monday, the band’s channels announced that the concert would be postponed one day backwards, on Saturday, August 14th.

The information was reported on Nightwish's official Facebook page, among other things . In comments to the release, the band's drummer Kai Hahto said that the ticket sales for Sunday had been weak.

According to Hahto, the organizer had offered options to either postpone the concert on Saturday or cancel it altogether.

- It is not worth arranging when you get to pay for the event yourself at the end. This is our own gig and we also have the risk. It’s not worth doing such a big production if it’s not even your own thing yet, the Nightwish drummer writes in the comments for the public release.

The sales target is achieved

Scott Lavender , the Finnish and Baltic head of touring of the concert organizer Live Nation, assures that the concert was decided to move only at the request of the audience.

- We had received requests to postpone the concert to Saturday. We were offered the opportunity to do so and we seized it.

Lavender notes that Saturday is traditionally a better gig day for fans traveling from outside locations, for example.

In the comments to the Facebook publication, the audience has expressed their annoyance that at the same time that Saturday will be the second day of the Dark River festival in Kotka as well as the Blind Channel concert at the Helsinki Pool Sea Pool. Because of the overlap, many write that they are now in a difficult situation, forcing them to choose between two events.

Some commentators say they have already booked the hotel for the Sunday gig.

Lavender says very few have contacted the organizer about the change.

- The feedback we have received has been largely positive.

Lavender does not know why Hahto justifies the transfer with poor ticket sales. According to Lavender, ticket sales meet expectations.

By Sunday, more than 70% of the target number had been sold. According to Lavender, the direction seems promising that the goal will also be achieved, or even exceeded thanks to the move.

- The show will definitely happen. We were already happy with the ticket sales situation on Sunday. Saturday allows for an even more spectacular event, Lavender assures.

According to Lavender, the allegations that the organizer would have offered either transfer or cancellation as alternatives are not true.

- The idea for the transfer did not come from us, people had asked for it.

Lavender notes that when the opportunity for a Saturday concert was offered, the organizers and artists discussed the issue. The common position was that Saturday is a better day for the concert.

- There is no financial motive for postponing the concert, Lavender confirms.

The drummer commented

Iltalehti reached the Nightwish band Hahto later on Tuesday to comment on the situation. According to the drummer, there has been a misunderstanding in the situation.

- I've talked about the wrong week's figures. It is better for musicians to play and let gig sellers take care of their business, so there will be no misunderstandings, Hahto states.

Hahto also mentions information that tickets would have sold 70 percent of the target.

However, Facebook comments posted by Hahto will still be available on Wednesday morning.

Originally from August 12-14 Kaisaiemi Park was to host the Kaisa Rocks event, with performances by Popeda and Eppu Normaali, among others.

Kaisa Rocks' cancellation was also announced on Monday. Lavender confirms that it was the cancellation of Kaisa Rocks that made it possible to postpone Nightwish’s concert.

Kaisa Rock's cancellation was precisely motivated by financial reasons.

- We are leaving the industry in a difficult time. It was not financially possible to organize a new, multi-day and as-yet-established event. It was perhaps a little ambitious at this point, Lavender notes.

He says overall ticket sales are currently at a good level. According to him, there are no signs of the Covid situation and the uncertainty it causes.

For example, Lavender mentions the giant gigs of The Weeknd and Queen + Adam Lambert planned for Helsinki next year. Each sale was completed in minutes. The latter's additional gig was also sold out quickly, there are only a few tickets left for the first.

- People buy a lot of tickets. Artists want to perform and the audience wants to return to events. We know that when we put on a show, there’s an audience for it. The overall picture looks optimistic.

Lavender also assures that the events will be organized in a safe manner and in accordance with the instructions of the authorities.

Well the excitement is building up, Floor on Instagram is showing a bit of the rehearsals in Oulu, The Greatest Show is playing in the background... 🤩

I wonder if there will be any changes to the setlist from the virtual show... or whether they will go with the setlist from the first or second show? I'd choose Shoemaker over Pan, although I'd rather they do both... but maybe Showmaker won't be a regular, given the vocal challenge. And Tribal, I hope it stays on the list.

Well a few songs missing, I'm sure if I spend more time on YT I will find them... Anyway, what a hell of a good show! I mean, this was the first real live show they were doing together in more than 2 years, and it looked like they had everything under control! I know I could have expected as much since they were already very good in the virtual show, but wow. Can't wait to hear from Ocean Soul who was actually there. 😲

Of note, the opening act Asim Searah (who's also a live guitarist for Wintersun) sang The Islander, and it was actually pretty good! Played slightly faster than the original, interestingly.

Maybe he's pitching to replace Marko? Nightwintesunwish, here we go! 😁
