I was wondering if M&G are still a thing in the post-pandemic world, I have yet to see any evidence of Nightwish doing them.

Other than New York City from what I last remember, they haven't offered it for Toronto. I think it was the changes from the pandemic or the EnterTheVault scandal that is the reason why they have stopped. Though, I do assume it is because of new management decisions.

So it seems to be a bit random -- I haven't heard of anything for Montreal either. Who's the promoter for this tour anyway, now that Finberg has been booted?

If you're wrecked and sore, it means that you had an amazing time! 🤘🔥 Better just admit it, was it you yelling "TUOMAS YOU'RE A GENIUS -- I LOVE YOUUUU!!!" before the start of Ghost Love Score in Helsinki? 😁😋

Looks like you met lots of like-minded fans, I'm sure the vibe at a Nightwish show must be electric over there! That's why I wish to be able one day to see them in Finland -- or in South America, but I'd be afraid of being trampled to death. 😆

Thanks for sharing your report! 👍 Looking forward to next week even more!

Hey Jim, welcome to the forums! 😀 Small venues for huge bands is great, it's not the same light-and-sound experience as in European arenas but the intimacy is a fine trade-off. Where did you see them before?

Thank you for the welcome,

Saw them at 1st Ave. Mpls. 2016. Shit venue, but NW energy offset poor sound quality. I've been following Nightwish since early 2000. Crimson Tide instrumental was first YT vid. Not so much when Anette was front. Got very enthusiastic again first time saw Floor (Wacken 13). I don't know music, but know what I like. Son, is musician. Daughter, was in the business. Got, them hooked. For years my daughter used to rant about Amy Lee. After first NW vid with Floor, she said Amy who?

Not a fan boy, hate that. Passionate enthusiastic senior citizen.

Tampere and Helsinki shows (22.4.2022 & 24.2.2022)

They opened the gates at 6 pm., I went there at 2.45 pm. It was probably 10 or 15 minutes, and I already found myself in a great conversation about Nightwish with two really nice girls. Soon there were a whole bunch of us talking about Nightwish and how freaking excited we were. I changed my phone number with one of them, and we'll definitely see each other in Nightwish concerts in future. I was in second row, which was pretty fucking amazing. I wasn't so into Lähiöbotox, but the guys had fun so I guess it was the main thing. When Nightwish started their show, I screamed my fucking lungs out. The flames felt really hot on my face, but I kept on jumping, headbanging and shouting. Floor was a bit sick, but she still nailed it as always. There was a little break between two songs in very beginning of the show, and everybody just cheered her and she smiled in the most warming way I've ever seen. And yeah, once again, I shouted a couple times "I LOVE YOU FLOOR!!!!!" because why not. 😄 It was really fun, when some of the people there recognised me from Recordshop X. One really lovely lady even stated me as "the best employee of Record Shop X". That really warmed my little heart. ❤️

The gates opened at 6.30 in Helsinki. I was there at 6.15 and of course I found myself again talking with even more hardcore Nightwish fans than I did in Tampere. I got in the second row AGAIN and had a blast with one of the guys at the show (Ty if you're reading this, hi! 😄), we changed numbers. He even got Emppu's pick and he looked as stunned as me when I got Kai's stick couple years ago. I was so happy for him, he really deserved it. The show was even better than in Tampere, I don't know how come that's even possible... Once again, I headbanged really hard, bonded with supersuper fans who were standing in front of me, made them laugh with my self ironic jokes and I guess that one of those awesome girls let me have Troy's pick which their friend had caught... LIKE WHERE ALL THESE AWESOME PEOPLE CAME FROM!!!???!!!! If anyone of you who I talked with in those two concerts, I love you, you were a huge part of my experience that was EPIC. I did mention only a fraction of you people, but you all made it so fucking perfect. I hope we'll meet again at Nightwish's shows or at Recordshop X Jyväskylä ❤️❤️❤️

This was probably the most awesome weekend I've had in years, I hope that it won't be last. And it won't be. Now I'm tired as hell, my back is aching a bit. Thank goodness I have this weird lotion for my neck, so it's not killing me from all the headbanging. Like I said, I'm so fucking tired, but if I could do it again tomorrow, I definitely would do it.

That's a great story! Sounds like you had an incredible time!

That popped up as a recommendation for me. 🤭Only made me want more.

OK, plans finalized for my trip to NYC. Going up solo. Taking train from Wilmington, Delaware up. Got a hotel room. Head home early next morning. Rest up, head to Silver Spring/DC for the May 10 show. Friend of mine will go down with me. I can drive to that one. I will probably offer the extra ticket for free over on Floor World. Balcony level ticket.

I went to Tampere show all by myself and ended up with a bunch of new exciting people. From now on, I will always go to concerts alone 😄 I mean everybody can join me, but I won't do any further plans. 😄

It will be a totally new adventure for me. Have never done anything like this. Last hurrah as I will be 57 soon. 🤭🤭 I am really looking forward to it. Nervous, yet incredibly excited.

😄 I also discovered Evanescence before Nightwish, and I quite liked them for a while before I lost track of them. It's nice to get children hooked on 'daddy's music' for a change!

Last hurrah?! Yeah, I guess at the rate the band is touring and Tuomas writing, we'll all be in senior home by the time the next tour comes around! 😉

Probably because you're the extrovert type, I'm not sure I'd make that many friends going to a gig by myself! 😅

Kids are in early n late 30s (I'm 68) and know music. Their thoughts are that NW composition, mechanics and performance are  atypical and very rare in  mainstream. And, it's a shame technology, marketing, branding etc. drive music industry. NW probably has a few yrs. left. Interview with Thuomas an he said when Floor decides to hang it up that would be the end.

I discovered that band before Nightwish too! I remember seeing the music video for "Going Under" on MuchMusic back when I was a kid and thought it was the most interesting out of all the music videos they aired. Lucky me got to see them perform in 2017 when they had the orchestra with them.

Floor did say in an interview recently that she isn't going to leave Nightwish. But if the band does have a few years left, there's always a chance they could go out with a huge 'hoorah!' (one more album and a farewell tour). I do agree though, the three mentioned are rare.

Not really into MG. But my son being a musician had played venue (where I saw them in 2016) a couple of times over the yrs. Long story short. He bumped into Kai backstage during opening act, talked drum stuff and how I was an enthusiastic Sr of NW for yrs. (a lot of sign language, and pidgin english). Kai, told him had to do show. But, hang on a min. Came back with 18" cymbal with all 6 NW autographed. Ink was still wet. Told my kid to give it to me.

It's unlikely that NW can keep going if Floor leaves. Not impossible IMO, but very unlikely. The older one gets the harder I find it is to start over and put effort in a new relationship, and a band is just like a group marriage.

On the other hand, what would happen if it's Tuomas who decides to call it quits? Would you guys see Nightwish going on a band with a new keyboardist, doing anniversary tours until they all retire? I mean, it's Tuomas' work but I can't imagine all his songs to never be played live again.

I listened to the first album Fallen over and over for forever... then eventually moved on to something else, and I can't say I even listened to any other album of theirs. Strange when I think of it.

Amazing! Kai is a gentleman. And he's a superb drummer. No lesser man could have replaced Jukka.

I'm debating if I should bring a cake for the band (though it probably won't be allowed). I was thinking that it would be a chocolate cake with writing on top saying "Toronto - First show of the North American tour".

That would be so sweet! 🤩

The clock is ticking, are you nervous yet? 😁

This may be of interest, a Chaoszine report from the Tampere show:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm-lXNteBsE

Actually, I am getting a bit nervous with the NYC show. Just going up there solo and not knowing anyone. The good thing is I can walk from the train station to the hotel and from there to the venue. No other public transportation needed. The DC show will be easier. I'll be able to drive down. Also, taking a good friend of mine.

At least you can walk to the venue, because relying on the bus or subway to get to the venue in time can be stressful in NYC! Are you planning to show up very early? It's a general admission show, if I remember correctly.

I plan on getting in line early for the NYC show. Maybe 5:30ish. I have a balcony ticket for NYC. The Silver Spring/DC show should not be a problem as I have the line skip add-on for the show. I do hope to be able to get a balcony level spot in SS/DC. Don't know if I can hang with the young crowd. 😂 There was no way to order tickets specifically for balcony level there.

The Toronto show tonight was amazing like every other show I went to.

I woke up at 6:15 this morning and had breakfast - then caught the train down to Toronto and arrived very early to the venue at 9pm. At 12-1pm, the tour buses arrived behind the venue and Troy came out, coming over to me in which I had a picture with him and gave him a cupcake cake that I got for the band as well as giving me one of his guitar picks. I ended up later meeting Jukka Koskinen, Kai Hahto and Floor Jansen as they went going about - also having pictures with them.

For quite a small venue, the acoustics sounded amazing and it was a big stage. The audience was loud as I was when the band first stepped onto the stage. The setlist is identical to the previous shows on this tour - but nevertheless... I loved it.

Shortly after I arrived at the venue, there was. I started with me, and then two others appeared. And then there was three, and then six people. One guy who was there from Costa Rica had a customized flag that he really badly wanted to get signed. He didn't get all the signatures, but he is going to the Montreal show so hopefully he will be able to get all of them. When Kai was going off to Harvey's for lunch, I was talking to him as I was going to get lunch from there as well. Then I saw five of the fans coming to ask Kai for photos and autographs, he was like "Oh boy" with a smile on his face and he was cool about it.

Jukka Koskinen also came out to talk with us and have photos and signatures from the Harvey's restaurant he was about to get food from. Emppu ended up walking out, but was really quickly walking as people begged for his autograph. He waved to us, so it is a good enough gesture - as he was in a hurry. As we lined up, a couple more people showed up. Eventually later in the day, more people. Then the YouTube reviewers A&P Reacts appeared, both of them who have known me for a while as I was attending the shows. They were talking to both Jukka and Yannis Papadopoulos from the opening act Beast in Black. (They have an interview with Yannis coming up soon.)

So yes, there were a few of us at first which surprised me a lot as I wasn't expecting that.
